Rename
[edit]This article needs to be renamed 2 July 2016 Baghdad Bombings, because two bombings were carried out, one in Karrada and one in Shaab. Yabti (talk) 16:19, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
- Good point. Done. Midnightblueowl (talk) 17:00, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
- Previous attack articles do not contain date in title, though.--Bsumantb (talk) 17:11, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
- What about 7 July 2005 London bombings? September 11 attacks? Using "July" without a date is fine for now, although we will have to re-add the date back in if there are any further attacks on Baghdad this month (although I for own hope that there won't be).
- Previous attack articles do not contain date in title, though.--Bsumantb (talk) 17:11, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

Requested move 5 July 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. While there is significant opposition to the proposal, it did not address the fact that >90% of the article text is devoted to the Karrada bombing, thus the current title is inappropriate. The proposed alternative 2016 Baghdad bombing is obviously ambiguous (2016 Baghdad bombings currently redirects to List of terrorist incidents, 2016), and the yet third alternative July 2016 Baghdad bombing simply has not been put on the table. I'm also going to redirect the 2016 Baghdad bombing(s) to Baghdad bombing, a longish dab page. No such user (talk) 12:14, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
July 2016 Baghdad bombings → 2016 Karrada bombing – The title (as well as the first sentences) should be revised so it only refers to the Karrada bombing that killed 213+ people. The second bomb attack took place elsewhere in Baghdad and, with 5 deaths, is a common event that normally does not warrant an article on its own, as evidenced by the multiple other bomb attacks in Baghdad over the past few days. More importantly, the second attack does also not appear to have been directly linked to the Karrada attack. Referring to multiple bombings takes away from the severity of the Karrada attack. Furthermore, media outlets are now only referring to the Karrada bombing with no mention of the second one. Michael5046 (talk) 00:48, 5 July 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. - Oppose I've seen coverage of both bombings, though the bigger bombing is getting more coverage. Blaylockjam10 (talk) 20:48, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. We should follow sources in their naming, not create our own name. I looked for recent news sources referring to "Baghdad" or "Karrada" in the title related to bombing(s). Every source uses "Baghdad" in the title with the exception of one, iraqinews.com, [1] and even they are not consistent in using "Karrada". [2] Fences&Windows 06:45, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. I don't mind it being named 2016 Baghdad bombing instead of Karrada bombing. My main objection here is that the page currently treats a second, unrelated bombing (one that would normally never qualify for an entry), as somehow on the same level of the main attack. It just doesn't make any sense. I just looked at the recent Google News results and they all refer to it as a bombing, no mention of the second bombing. The Karrada bombing is a truck bombing, the other one was a roadside bomb which happens daily. Michael5046 (talk) 19:30, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Both bombings have received significant coverage, and sources list them alongside the main bombing. If we include the second bombing, then the other bombings must be included. Beejsterb (talk) 18:26, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. I just read the last 3 results on Google News and none of them make even a mention of the unrelated, roadside bombing that night. We can rename the entry and revise the text to focus on the truck bombing, and just reference to the other attacks as background information. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/07/iraq-bombing-baghdad-death-toll-rises-250-160706045245744.html and https://www.rt.com/news/349707-drone-video-explosion-baghdad/ and http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/baghdad-bombing-attack-latest-news-isis-islamic-state-death-toll-shopping-centre-ramadan-shia-a7122196.html
- Support proposal to name it 2016 Karrada bombing. That is the notable one, the other is not +there is an obvious need to distinguish between other bombings in baghdad — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dave8899 (talk • contribs) 16:54, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Support: These events are unrelated. 2016 Baghdad bombing can be a redirect. If multiple bombings this year become notable enough for articles, 2016 Baghdad bombings should be a WP:DAB page, with 2016 Baghdad bombing a redirect to that. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 20:22, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: It appears that the death toll from the other bombings have increased, making them even more notable.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Beejsterb (talk • contribs) 00:32, 12 July 2016

Perpetrator in main bombing
[edit]Are there any sources that state that the death toll includes the perpetrator? If not, should the "(+1)" be added? Beejsterb (talk) 02:39, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
